Supporting food security
General Mills Canada has been fighting hunger in its communities for years with support for food banks, school breakfast and community-led initiatives.
But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, efforts to support food security became even more essential.
Today, 1 in 7 people in Canada are hungry.
“While we have been committed to increasing food security in Canada for years, the pandemic has demonstrated just how essential these partnerships are – as well as the resilience of our non-profit partners and the communities we serve,” says Louise Iverson, senior program manager with the General Mills Foundation.
Dale Storey, vice president and managing director for our Canada business, shares how we’re responding to feed those in urgent need, in this video.
“We are grateful to Food Banks Canada, Breakfast Club of Canada, and United Way Greater Toronto for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that all Canadians have affordable, reliable access to the food they need in order to thrive,” adds Iverson.
Our Canadian employees have been actively involved in food security efforts through work with these organizations to serve those in their communities.
